Adventurer terms

Adventurer

A playable character. Each Adventurer is locked to one weapon and one class (Assault / Support / Disruptor) and is obtained through gacha pulls with Standard Contracts. Story characters can be unlocked and played directly, so your roster grows with progress. Nine have been revealed so far.

Standard Contract

The gacha pull item. Pity lands at around 90 pulls, with a 50/50 on the featured unit; duplicates convert into Insight. Exact numbers arrive with launch.

Insight

The progression currency that duplicate Adventurers convert into, used to strengthen characters you already own. Detailed uses: to be confirmed.

Buddy terms

Buddy

Your Adventurer’s companion. Three kinds: Palico (the classic cat, Assault-leaning), Rutaco (native to Aesoland, Disruptor-leaning, good with tools and Radiantite construction) and Trillan (native to Aesoland, Support-leaning, supports with song). Buddies can be trained to grow stronger.

Co-op

Real-time four-player hunting with one-tap team-up. The three-class system applies to both Adventurers and Buddies, and the game pushes you toward splitting roles across the party.

Combat terms

Perfect Evade

A precisely timed dodge. Depending on the weapon it preserves your charge, repositions you, or opens a counter — read the monster’s tell instead of mashing.

Perfect Guard

A precisely timed block. On some weapons it triggers an instant reload (for example, on the Heavy Bowgun).

Hunting Arts

The one-button combo system built for touch controls — combo strings that need timing inputs in the mainline games are compressed into a single tap here.

Departure Mode

An assisted control scheme in the spirit of Street Fighter 6 Modern controls — three buttons (react / attack / burst) with the system auto-guarding and countering. It sits alongside Standard Mode.

World terms

Radiantite

A mineral unique to Aesoland and the setting-defining material of this game. Monsters that come into contact with it become Radiant Species.

Radiant Species

Monsters altered by Radiantite: changed appearance, more aggressive behaviour, and a second enraged phase after taking enough damage. Most large monsters have a Radiant form (Radiant Rathalos, Radiant Diablos and so on).

Ruger Aidal

The game’s original flagship Elder Dragon, the “second sun”, which absorbs light and hardens Radiant particles. Revealed at Gamescom in August 2026.

Aesoland

The island the game is set on. Forest, swamp and desert connect seamlessly, and weather acts as a way of dividing regions. It also holds the building system.
